A craft dating back to the 14th century, Bidri is unique to the region of Bidar in north eastern Karnataka. An alloy of zinc and copper is sand casted and dipped into a boiling mixture of soil from the dungeons of Fort Bidar: A chemical reaction caused due to the composition of this soil gives the zinc alloy a rich inky black patina.
